You have 2 stewards assigned to each cabin and they will assist you with anything you need including extra towels. When you get into your cabin have a look in the cupboards and the beach towels are usually hidden in there (not in the rather limited spaced bathroom)! Hmm sorry not sure about the laundry powder - i've actually never done my washing onboard before... are you sure that the Pacific Dawn has self laundry facilities? one of the P&O ships that i've been on (it wasnt the Pacific Dawn though) didnt have a facility such as this, so I just waited until I got home otherwise you'd have to pay per item! Maybe you might just want to check that out with your travel agent? They will give you the best advice per childs age. You do not need to bring towels, you will have some on the boat and I believe they let you onto the beach with them. Generally they have dispensers in the laundry room where you spend a dollar and get a box of detergent. Have fun and don't sweat the small stuff! check with the boat.
